CHERRY - COMMERCIAL WOOD The wild black cherry (Prunus serotina) is somewhat lighter in weight and a little softer than beech and birch; but it is nevertheless a dense, strong, hardwood of excellent wearing qualities, and with a color and figure which make it highly prized in the manufacture of exceptionally fine furniture and interior finish.
