CHESTNUT - COMMERCIAL WOOD The wood of chestnut (Castanca dentata) is rather light, soft, and durable. It is easily worked, and appears well in furniture and fixtures, in many cases rather closely resembling white ash. The larger factory uses reported for chestnut are indicated in Table 76.
