Dogwood - Commercial Wood

DOGWOOD - COMMERCIAL WOOD Dogwood (Corpus florida) is very hard, heavy, close-grained, and wear-resistant, and is used in places where hard service would quickly destroy softer woods. As brought out elsewhere, the limited supply of dogwood is nearly all consumed in the manufacture of shuttles for the great cotton mills of the East.

Dogwood is also used to some extent for small handles, mauls, spindles, wedges, and mine rollers.
