YELLOW POPLAR - COMMERCIAL WOOD Yellow poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) is a light, soft, fine-grained, easily worked durable wood in many respects much like basswood. It has a wide range of usefulness; and, in addition to serving in its own proper form, yellow poplar is also much used as a backing for veneer of other woods.
