GIRARD, a city of Russell county, Alabama, U.S.A., on the Chattahoochee river, opposite Columbus, Ga. It is on Federal highway 11, and is served by the Central of Georgia railway. The population was 4,942 in 192o. It is a shipping point for lumber and cotton. It was consolidated with Phenix City in 1923.
