GLAZEBROOK, SIR RICHARD TETLEY '935), K.C.B. (192o), Kt. (1917), C.B. (191o), was born on Sept. 18, 1854, and educated at Liverpool college and at Trinity college, Cambridge, where he became a fellow in 1877. In 1898 he was appointed principal of University college, Liverpool, and in 1899 director of the National Physical laboratory, a post which he held until 1919. In 1908 he became chairman of the Aeronau tical Research committee, and from 1920 to 1923 was Zaharoff professor of aviation and director of the department of aero nautics at the imperial college of technology.

He was the author of many scientific textbooks, and papers on scientific subjects, and the editor of the Dictionary of Applied Physics.
