GRASS VALLEY, a city of Nevada county, California, U.S.A., served by the Nevada County Narrow Gauge railroad, which connects at Colfax (15m. S.E.) with the Southern Pacific lines. It is in a gold-mining district in the eastern part of the State, is the gateway to summer playgrounds in the Sierra Nevada and is becoming a health resort. The population in 193o was 3,817.
