GREENFIELD, a village of Highland county, Ohio, U.S.A., 47m. S. by W. of Columbus; served by the Baltimore and Ohio and the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton railways. The population was 4,344 in 1920 (94% native white) and was 3,871 in 193o by the Federal census. There are large stone quarries and a variety of manufacturing and commercial industries. Cattle-shipping and poultry-packing are important. Greenfield has a unique public school system, with a fine plant (elementary, high and vocational schools grouped together on a large campus) erected at a cost of $3,o00,0o0, largely contributed by one of the citizens.
