GUELPH, a city of Canada, 45 m. W. of Toronto, on the river Speed and the Canadian National steam and electric and Canadian Pacific railways. Pop. (1931) 21,075. It is a fine agri cultural centre, and exports grain, fruit and live-stock. It con tains the Ontario Agricultural college. The river affords abundant waterpower for flour-mills, saw-mills, woollen-mills and numerous factories. The city contains the only linen mill in the Dominion of Canada.
