GOSS, SIR JOHN (1800-188o), English composer, was born at Fareham, on Dec. 27, i800. His church music includes some admirable compositions, such as the anthems "0 taste and see," "0 Saviour of the world," and others ; and in the history of the glee he has also an honoured place. He died in London, on May io, 1880.
