GRACCHUS, TIBERIUS SEMPRONIUS, probably the son of the preceding. Consul in 215, during the second Punic War, he defeated the Capuans, and in 214 beat Hanno near Bene ventum with the help of slave volunteers, fighting under promise of freedom. In 213 Gracchus was consul a second time and car ried on the war in Lucania ; in the following year, while advanc ing on Capua, he was betrayed by a Lucanian and trapped and killed by Mago.
