HAMMONTON, a town of Atlantic county, N.J., U.S.A., midway between Philadelphia and Atlantic City, on the Lincoln highway, and served by the Pennsylvania and the Reading rail ways. The population was 6,417 in 192o (26% foreign-born white) and was 7,656 in 1930 by the Federal census. It is in a fer tile region producing especially peaches, berries and poultry; and its manufactures include shoes, clothing, macaroni, cigars, canned fruits, tapestry and cut-glass ware.
