HANLEY, market town ; Stoke on Trent county, municipal and parliamentary borough, Staffordshire, England. Pop. (1921) 77,786. In 191 o it amalgamated with neighbouring towns to form the municipal borough of Stoke-on-Trent (q.v.) which in 1925 became a city.
