HAZARD, a city of south-eastern Kentucky, U.S.A., on the Louisville and Nashville railroad; the county seat of Perry county, and a lumbering and coal-mining centre. The population was in 1920, and was 7,021 in 1930 by the Federal census. The city was founded in 1821 and incorporated in 1832.
