HILDEBRANDSSEN, HUGO HILDEBRAND (1838 1925). Swedish meteorologist, was professor of meteorology and director of the Meteorological Institute at Upsala from 1878 to 1906. He was an associate member of the Comite Permanent International Meteorologique from 1882 to 1885, ordinary mem ber from 1891 and general secretary from 190o to 1907. In 1886 he undertook, in conjunction with Ralph Abercromby, the classi fication of cloud forms, and he published in 1896 his Atlas inter national des nuages (with Riggenbach and L. Teisserenc de Bort), together with Les bases de la meteorologic dynamique (1898— 1907), in collaboration with Teisserenc de Bort. He died on July 1925.
