HALL, ROBERT English Baptist divine, was born on May 2, 1764, at Arnesby near Leicester, where his father, Robert Hall (1728-1791), was pastor of a Baptist congregation. Ending his studies at Aberdeen university he became classical tutor at the Bristol academy, where he spent four years. In 1790 he became pastor of a church at Cambridge, where he re mained for 15 years and made a great reputation as a preacher. He died on Feb. 21, 1831.
