HINDLEY, an urban district, Westhoughton parliamentary division, Lancashire, England, 2 m. south-east of Wigan, on L.M.S. and L.N.E. railways. Pop. (1931) 21,629. Cotton-spinning and weaving are the principal industries and there are extensive coal mines in the neighbourhood.
