HOHENLIMBURG, a German town, on the Lenne, in the Prussian province of Westphalia, 3o m. by rail S. of Dortmund. Pop. (1933) 16,372. Iron and metal industries, dyeing, cloth making and linen-weaving are carried on. It is the chief town of the county of Limburg, and formerly belonged to the counts of Limburg, a family which became extinct in 1508. The castle of Hohenlimburg overlooks the town.
