HOHENSTEIN (Hohenstein-Ernstthal), a town of Germany, in the Land of Saxony, on the railway Zwickau-Chemnitz, 12 M. N.E. of the former. Pop. 17,587. Industries include cotton weaving, the manufacture of machines, stockings, gloves and woollen fabrics, cotton printing and dyeing. There are copper and arsenic mines in the neighbourhood.
