HOLZMINDEN, a town of Germany, in the Land of Brunswick, on the Weser, at the foot of the Solinger Mountains, 56 M. S.W. of Brunswick. Pop. (1933) 12,905. It obtained municipal rights from Count Otto of Eberstein in 1245, and in 1410 it came into the possession of Brunswick. The town de pends on agriculture, the manufacture of iron and steel wares, and of chemicals and artificial manures. There are also polishing mills for sandstone. It has river trade on the Weser.
