HOPE, a city of Hempstead county, Arkansas, U.S.A., in the south-western part of the State; on Federal highway 67, and served by the Frisco, the Louisiana and Arkansas and the Mis souri Pacific railways. The population was 4790 in 1920; 193o was 6,o08. It is an important shipping point for cotton, lumber, cattle and hides, and for lumber products from its own mills.
