HUDSON, JOHN (1662-1719), English classical scholar, was born at Wythop in Cumberland. He was educated at Oxford, where the remainder of his life was spent. In 1701 he was ap pointed Bodley's librarian, and in 1711 principal of St. Mary's hall. He died on Nov. 26, 1719. His works were chiefly editions of classical authors.
