VIGAN, a municipality (with administration centre and 25 barrios or districts) and the capital of the province of Ilocos Sur, Luzon, Philippine islands, near the mouth of the Abra river, about 200 m. N. by W. of Manila, Pop. (1918) 17,765. In 1918, Vigan had 38 factories and 45 household industry establishments, with outputs valued at 255,200 and 93,00o pesos respectively. The language is Ilocano.
