WABASH, a city of Indiana, U.S.A., on the Wabash river and Federal highway 24. Pop. (1920) 9,872; and in 193o, 8,84o. It is a manufacturing city and the trade centre for a rich agricultural region. Wabash was settled about 1834 and chartered as a city in 1866. It was one of the first cities in the world to be lighted by electricity, a lighting plant being established in Febru ary, 1880.
