WESTERMANN, FRANCOIS JOSEPH (d. French general, was born at Molsheim in Alsace. He accompanied Dumouriez on his campaigns and was arrested as an accomplice in his negotiations with the Austrians. He succeeded in proving his innocence, and was sent with the rank of general of brigade into La Vendee, where he distinguished himself by his extraor dinary courage.
