WAUPUN, a city of Wisconsin, U.S.A., 6o m. N.W. of Milwaukee. Pop. 4,44o in 1920; in 1930, 5,768 by the Federal census. It is the seat of the State prison and of the Central State hospital for the insane. It was founded in 1838 and incorporated in 1857. The name means "early dawn."
