WAXAHACHIE, a town of Texas, U.S.A. Pop. 7,958 in 1920 (23% negroes) and was 8,042 in 1930 Federal census. It is the seat of Trinity university (Presbyterian), established in 1869. The city has flour, cottonseed-oil, and cotton mills, and a petroleum refinery. The Midlothian oilfield is io m. N.W. Waxa hachie was founded in 1852.
