WEST HAVEN, a town of Connecticut, U.S.A. Population was 25,808 in 193o. It is mainly a residential and industrial suburb of New Haven. Savin Rock, rising out of Long Island sound, is a popular pleasure resort. West Haven was taken from New Haven in 1822 and united with North Milford to form the town of Orange. It was incorporated as a borough in 1873; reverted to Orange town after 191o, and in 1921 was incorporated as an independent town.
