WESTGATE-ON-SEA, a watering-place in the Isle of Thanet. Pop. (1921) 5,096. There are gardens and promenades over I m. in length, a marine drive along the cliffs, and golf links. BIRCHINGTON, to the west (pop. 3,503), is also a growing resort. The church of All Saints is Perpendicular, with an Early English tower, and contains some interesting monuments.
