COSTANZO, ANGELO DI (c. 15o7-1591), Italian his torian and poet, was a Neapolitan. He was an ardent admirer of the beautiful poetess Vittoria Colonna (q.v.). He spent over 4o years on his great work, Le Istorie der regno di Napoli dal 125o fino al 1498 (Naples, 1572; completed work, Aquila, 1580. It is still one of the best histories of Naples, and the style is clear, simple and elegant.
