DELMENHORST, a town, Land of Oldenburg, Germany, on the Delme, 8 m. by rail W. from Bremen, at the junction of a line to Vechta. Pop. (1933) 31,254. It is engaged in wool combing, weaving, jute-spinning and the manufacture of linoleum. Delmenhorst was founded in 123o, and from 1247 to 1679, when it was destroyed by the French, was protected by a strong castle.
