DELPHINUS, a small constellation (q.v.) appearing in the northern hemisphere not far from Altair, the brightest star of the constellation Aquila (q.v.). As its name signifies, it was supposed by the ancients to represent a dolphin. 7 Delphini is a double star, the yellowish component being of magnitude 4, and the bluish component of the 5th magnitude (see STAR).
