DENNEWITZ, a village of Germany, in the Prussian prov ince of Brandenburg, near Jilterbog, 4o m. S.W. from Berlin. It was the scene of a decisive battle on Sept. 6, 1813, in which Ney, with an army of 58,000 French, Saxons and Poles, was defeated with great loss by 5o,000 Prussians under Billow and Tauentzien.
