DEODAR. The deodar or "god tree" (Cedrus Deodara) is a species of coniferous evergreen tree closely allied to the cedar, the timber obtained therefrom being of considerable value. It forms extensive forests in the Himalayas at elevations of from 7,000 ft. and is also found in Afghanistan and north Baluch istan. The wood is durable and light-red in colour and is used particularly for cabinetwork as it can be highly polished. See also
