DERENBOURG, HARTWIG (1844-1908), French orien talist, son of the following, was born in Paris on June 17, He studied at Gottingen, Leipzig and at the Ecole des Langues Orientales, Paris. In 1879 he was appointed professor of Arabic at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes in Paris. He collaborated with his father in the great edition of Seadiah (1893 etc.) and the edition of Abu-'1-Walid, and also prepared a number of important editions of other Arabic writers and a catalogue of the Arabic mss. in the Escorial (2 vols.
