ELEUTHEROPOULOS, ABROTELES ), German philosopher of Greek descent, was born on May 24, in Constantinople. He studied at Leipzig, and since 1896 has been a privatdozent at Zurich. He desired to put philosophy on a scientific basis and investigated its relation to sociology and economics. Besides his chief work, Wirtschaft and Philosophie (1898; 3rd ed., 1915), he has written Ein f iihrung in eine wissen scha f tliche Philosophic (1900) ; Sociologie (19o4; 2nd ed., 1908) ; Rechtsphilosophie, Sociologie and Politik (1908) ; Seelenleben (1911) and Philosophie, allgemeine Weltanschauung (191i).
