ENCAENIA, a festival commemorating a dedication, in Greek Ta EyKatvca, particularly used of the anniversary of the dedication of a church (see DEDICATION). The term is also used at the University of Oxford of the annual Commemoration, held in June, of founders and benefactors (see OXFORD).
