EDWARDS, ENOCH British Labour politi cian, was born at Talk-o'-the-Hill, Staffs., on April io, 185 2. He was the son of a pitman, and worked as a boy in a coal-mine. In 1870 he was appointed treasurer and in 1877 secretary of the North Staffordshire Miners' Association. In 1884 he became member of the school board and town council of Burslem, and later alderman and mayor. In 188o he became president of the Midland Miners' Association ; he was later president of the Miners' Federation of Great Britain and member of the Stafford shire county council. In 1906 he was elected Labour M.P. for Hanley. He died at Southport on June 28, 1912.
