ESTEBANEZ CALDERON, SERAFIN (1799-1867), Spanish author, known as "El Solitario." His Escenas andaluzas (1847), written in a curiously affected style, is a vivid record of picturesque scenes and local customs despite its eccentric man nerisms and its archaic vocabulary. He left an unfinished history, De la conquista y perdida de Portugal (1883) .
