FAED, THOMAS (1826-190o), British painter, born in Kirkcudbrightshire, studied at the school of design, Edinburgh, was a member of the Royal Scottish Academy, and became R.A. in 1864. Three of his pictures, "The Silken Gown," "Faults on Both Sides" and "The Highland Mother," are in the National Gallery of British Art (Tate Gallery), London.
