The picture is, in the circumstances, naturally drawn from the angle of a poignant sense of loss. Nevertheless, the words ad dressed by one who had been Luther's close associate as disciple, co-worker and friend for nearly 3o years to an audience which had known him in daily intercourse for a longer period, leave on the reader the impression of having been uttered in complete sincerity and truth.
