STURN I DX, the starling family of birds, which naturalists arrange into the Sturninte, the star ling,s or mynas ; the Lamprotornitne, glossy mynas or grakles ; the Bupliaginm or ox-peckers; the Quisealinm or boat-tails ; the leterinte or hang nests ; and the Agelainse or maims. The Sturninte, Lamprotornitue, and Bupliagitut are peculiar to the 01(1 World. In the E. Indie.s, the more frequently occurring genera and species of the family are as under :— Fant. Sturnidm. The glomy black stalling of Ettropc, Asia, Africa, Azores, is common in the Himalaya, and N. India, Kashmir, Afghanistan, etc., as in Britain.

Sturnus unicolor, Olarm.., of Sardinia, 13arbary. etc., is very dibtinet, and much less bright in its glosses than the common starling. It is said by Adams to be common itt Sind, the Panjab, and Kashmir.
