CHAMBERS, Robert William, American artist and novelist: b. Brooklyn, N. Y., 26 May 1865. He began his career as an artist after studying at the Julian Academy, Paris, and be came an illustrator for various New York weeklies; but he soon abandoned this for the literary field in which he achieved considerable success through his popular novels. He wrote a drama, entitled 'The Witch of Ellengowan,' for Ada Rehan, which was performed at Daly's Theatre, New York.
