Spanish Varieties Early Maturing for Colder Localities

SPANISH VARIETIES EARLY MATURING FOR COLDER LOCALITIES.

Var. Prondformis.—Manzanillo; (French, Ampoul leau.) - Fruit above an inch in diameter, spherical, shin ing black.

Var. Begalis.—Sevillano: (French, Franca., de Catty nac.)—Fruit about an inch in diameter, ovate-spherical, blunt, u ish-b I ack.

Var. Bellotudo or Trallotuda.—Fruit about an inch long, egg-shaped: pericarp outsioe dark red, inside violet.

Var. Redondillo.—Fruit ovate-spherical, nearly an. inch long" pericarp outside blnish-black, inside whitish. A rich yielder.

Var. Ovalie.—Lechin; Picholln( Acqnillo; (French, Saurine.)—Fruit broad-oval, two-thirds of an inch long_ A copious yielder.

Var. Argentata.—Nevadillo blanco; Donee]; Gorza lens; Moradillo long OjiManco; Olio lucio. Fruit broad ovate, an inch long very blunt, not oblique. Quality and quantity of nil excellent.

Var. Varal blanco--(French, Blanguette.)—Fruit ovate, globular, three-fourths of an inch long, neither points cinor oblique, outside blackish-red.

Var. Etnpeltre. —Fri& oi ale, an inch long, equable. Rich in oil of excellent quality, also one of the best for pickles. Outside violet, inside white.

Var. Racienal.—(French, Bouteillan, Boutiniene, Ribien, Bapogette.)—Fruit violet-colured, globose-ovate,

about an inch long, neilbcr pointed nor oblique. Bears regularly also on leas lertile soil, and is one of the earliest to ripen.

Var. Varal negro; Alameno; (French, Cayon, Navies.) —Fruit violet -black, spotted, globose-pi ate, nearly an inch long. somewhat pointed. Bears richly.

Var. Colchonwelo.—Fruit spheric, outside red, inside white, one inch in diameter, slightly pointed. Produces. a large quantity of good oil.

Var. Ogitto de jib• e. -Fruit nearly spheric, outside violet-black. about one inch long, aomewbat oblique Var. Curraaquena.-- (French, Redouan de Cotigoot.)— Fruit black-red, almost spherical, slightly oblique, about an inch long Valuable both for oil and preserves.

Var. Hispalensis.—Gordal,• .Ocal; Olivo real..—Fruit black-gray, oblique, spherical, measuring fully an inch. Rather a large and quick growing tree. Fruit used in the green state tor preserves, not used for table-oil.

Var. Verdej (French, Verdal; Verdan.) Fruit black-violet, oblique spheric, pointed, about one *inch Ion . Furnishes good oil, end resiata beet of all the cold.
