ABINGTON, a town of Plymouth county, Mass., U.S.A., 'gm. S. 'by E. of Boston. It is served by the New York, New Haven and Hartford railroad, and by trolley and bus lines. The population was 5,872 in 193o Federal census. Farming, fruit growing (especially strawberries), and dairying are carried on. The principal manufactures are boots and shoes, lasts, cement blocks, window-shades and machinery. The town was settled about 168o and incorporated in 1712.
