ACAULESCENT, a term used of a plant apparently stem less, as dandelion, the stem being almost suppressed. ACCADIAN, an adjectival form of the name Accad or Ak kad. Sumer and Akkad were the principal sub-regions of Baby lonia (q.v.) and in view of the dialectical and ethnological differ ences between the peoples of the two regions, the terms Sumerian and Accadiari came to represent the languages and ethnic groups of the two regions.
