AGNOETAE, a minority of adherents to the Monophysite movement who (contrary to the general tendency of that f orm of Christology) maintained that Christ as man was ignorant of many things (Mark xiii. 32; Luke ii. 25) (Gr. asyvoho, "be igno rant of"). The doctrine was condemned by Gregory the Great. (See MONOPHYSITES.)
