AIVALI, a town on the west coast of Asia Minor (vilayet of Karasi), opposite the island of Mitylene. Pop. (1927), It stands near the site of the Aeolian HeracPea, on rising ground at the end of a bay which is separated from the Gulf of Adramyt tium, and protected from the prevailing winds by the Moschonisi islands (Hecatonnesoi).
