AKALKOT, a native State of India, in the Deccan division of Bombay, ranking as one of the Satara Jagirs, in the Sholapur agency. It forms part of the Deccan table-land, and has a cool cli mate. Area 498sq.m. ; pop. (1931) 92,605, a decrease of 9% in the decade, balanced by a similar increase in 1901-11. The tribute is f 1,000. The State is under British management.
The town of Akaikot is situated near the Great Indian Penin sula railway, which traverses the State. Pop. (1931) 10,857.
