ALBERT PIKE HIGHWAY, a western thoroughfare, running from Hot Springs, Arkansas, through the Ozark mountains to Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1928 it was graded and im proved throughout most of its i,000-mile length, but had little pavement. Ft. Smith, Muskogee, Tulsa, Dodge City, La Junta and Pueblo are some of the cities that lie along its path. It was named after Albert Pike, American author, soldier and explorer who first passed over the route in an expedition to Santa Fe.
